The CEA® Exam

Receiving the CEA® Designation
Taking the Test In order to receive the CEA® designation you are required to pass a 75 question examination with a minimum of 49 correct answers. The test is open book and administered online (recommended method) or via fax and is 90 minutes in duration.

Online Testing
Online testing is currently the preferred method of testing for all CEA® Candidates. Candidates are given two (2) opportunities to pass the exam, with a waiting period of 14 days between the exams. If the candidate fails both attempts, then they must wait one (1) full year and re-enroll before taking the exam again. Upon joining NAFEP, you have 1 year in which to take the test for becoming a CEA®. After one (1) year you may get an extension for a $60 fee plus the annual dues for that year. For more information about how to access the online testing page, please contact our member services department at (801)266-9900 x115 or via Email at nikki@nafep.com.
